Orban Chips Away at Germany’s Far-Right Firewall Before Election

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban hosted the Alternative for Germany’s lead election candidate in Budapest, a further sign the firewall erected around the far-right party in Berlin is under strain ahead of this month’s snap national ballot.

At a press conference with the Hungarian premier after talks in Budapest, Alice Weidel, the anti-immigrant AfD’s first ever official chancellor nominee, called Hungary a “role model” for political change.
