Slovenia Plans First Sovereign Sustainability-Linked Bond in EU
- Treasury aims to issue rare sovereign SLB by end-April
- Only a few governments such as Chile have used such debt
Slovenia is aiming to become the first European Union member to issue sustainability-linked bonds, the country’s Treasury chief said.
“We are planning to issue a sustainability-linked bond sometime by the end of April,” Marjan Divjak, the head of Slovenia’s Treasury, said on the sidelines of the CEE Forum conference in Vienna on Wednesday. Slovenia will likely opt for a 10-year maturity to raise up to €1.5 billion ($1.54 billion), he said.
