BlackRock’s Fink Says Europe Needs Unified Banking Market
- US firm is major shareholder in Commerzbank and UniCredit
- Italian bank has built up a 21% holding in the German lender

BlackRock Inc. Chief Executive Officer Larry Fink urged Europe to continue unifying its banking market, while stopping short of commenting on a potential combination of Commerzbank AG and UniCredit SpA.
“Europe needs a stronger capital markets system and it needs a more unified banking system,” Fink said in an interview at the Berlin Global Dialogue conference on Tuesday when asked about his views on a possible merger of the two lenders.
