EU Steps Up Pressure Against Slovakia Over Media Concerns

The bloc’s executive arm sent a warning to the Slovak government this week about its overhaul of public media in June that aimed to increase state control. The new law removed the director of public television and radio, and allows the ruling majority to change the composition of the council that will appoint new leadership.
