China Seeks to Expand Taiwan Communications, Says No. 4 Official

The Chinese Communist Party’s No. 4 official has pledged to expand his nation’s communications with Taiwan, a self-ruled island that President Xi Jinping considers a breakaway province and has vowed to retake by force, if necessary.
Wang Huning said China should “push for the peaceful development of cross-straits relations” at an annual Taiwan work conference held on Tuesday and Wednesday in Beijing, according to the official Xinhua News Agency.
