The noise of helicopter taxis ferrying busy Manhattan executives to John F. Kennedy International Airport is so loud that Lara O’Brien has to keep her Zoom calls on mute when she works from her Brooklyn home.

“They rattle our apartment. The floor shakes,” she said. “This is something that happens in my neighborhood and across the entire borough.”
