Tamiflu Supplies Are Seen Limited in Fast Start to Flu Season

  • Supply was constrained at seven companies, university says
  • Late October flu hospitalizations highest since 2010-11 season

Tamiflu, a leading influenza treatment that doctors rely on for patients at highest risk of severe illness, is in limited supply in some formulations just as the flu season gets off to a early start.

Among about a dozen companies that sell generic Tamiflu in the US, seven firms have reported supply issues to the University of Utah’s drug information service, which tracks shortages. Amneal Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Camber Pharmaceuticals Inc. are among the drugmakers cited by the service.
