Kelli Ward, the chair of the Arizona Republican Party, has petitioned the US Supreme Court to block a subpoena from the Jan. 6 congressional committee seeking her phone and text records.

The emergency application Tuesday comes days after a federal appeals court ruled 2-1 against Ward’s effort to get the subpoena tossed out. She argued the “unprecedented case” had “profound precedential implications for future congressional investigations and political associational rights under the First Amendment.”
