The UK’s opposition Labour Party surged to a 25-point lead over the ruling Conservatives in a Savanta ComRes poll on Monday that highlights the damage done to Liz Truss’s Tories by her economic strategy 10 days ago.

While the lead isn’t as great as the record 33-point margin Labour registered in a YouGov poll last week, it’s the first time the party has polled 50% or more in Savanta ComRes’s history, and the biggest gap it’s ever enjoyed over the Tories, the pollster said in an emailed statement.
