European Stocks Rise as Investors Focus on Earnings Resilience

Updated on

European equities climbed after falling the most in three weeks on Friday as bond yields retreated, investors brushed off the risks from the Federal Reserve’s rate increases and focused on robust earnings.

The Stoxx Europe 600 rose 0.7% by the close in London. Retail, automakers and real estate sectors led the advance, while telecoms and healthcare lagged. Italy’s FTSE MIB Index slightly underperformed with banking stocks falling after a centrist party quit its alliance with the Democrats and the country’s sovereign rating outlook was lowered to negative by Moody’s Investors Service.
