Finnish Finance Ministry Proposes 2023 Budget in Deficit

Finland’s Finance Ministry proposed a 2023 budget deficit that’s narrowing from this year for discussion later in August by the five-party cabinet.

The proposal is 6.3 billion euros ($6.4 billion) in deficit, or about 2.5 billion euros less than the shortfall in this year’s budget, the ministry said in an emailed statement Thursday. The gap is narrowing as tax revenue grows and pandemic support measures are reduced, it said.
