US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is expected to land in Taiwan on Tuesday evening in defiance of Chinese threats, a trip that would make her the highest-ranking American politician to visit the island in 25 years.

Taiwan Foreign Minister Joseph Wu was set to greet unspecified VIPs at Songshan Airport in Taipei at 10:30 p.m. local time, the government said in a statement. Flight-tracking website FlightRadar24 said earlier the world’s most-tracked flight was a US Air Force jet that took off from the capital of Malaysia, where Pelosi met with leaders on Tuesday.
