New York State health officials reported the first polio case found in the US since 2013 in a patient living in Rockland County, north of New York City.

The patient has been identified as a 20-year-old man who traveled to Poland and Hungary earlier in the year, a source close to the investigation told the Washington Post. The man, who is unvaccinated against the virus, has since been discharged and is at home with his family where he is having difficulty walking, the outlet reported.
