Goldman Sachs Group Inc. tapped Todd Leland, a senior executive in its Asia business, to become president of the international division.

Leland was most recently responsible for helping run the firm’s Asia-Pacific business excluding Japan. He is returning to London, where he previously spent about a decade as an investment banker. Leland, 62, has been instrumental in helping Goldman make inroads in China as Beijing’s attitude toward U.S. financial firms became more favorable in recent years.
