Hungary Needs to Work More to Seal EU Fund Deal, Minister Says

Hungary’s chief negotiator tasked with unlocking billions of euros of aid from the European Union tempered expectations over when Budapest may clinch a deal, saying more work needs to be done.

Budapest still needs to “build confidence” over the next month-and-a-half to address graft and rule-of-law concerns to be able to seal a deal in the autumn on 5.8 billion euros ($5.9 billion) of pandemic recovery funding, EU Funds Minister Tibor Navracsics told Bloomberg in an interview on Monday.
