UK Rail Operator ‘Optimistic’ as Union Delays New Strike Dates

Network Rail Ltd., the state-backed owner of Britain’s train tracks and major stations, signaled possible progress toward ending a labor dispute that led to three days of nationwide strikes late last month.

The firm is “cautiously optimistic” about reaching an agreement with the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers after a week of talks since the last walkout on June 25, chief negotiator Tim Shoveller said Friday.
