US authorities are sending a team of investigators to Miami International Airport after a passenger jet with 126 people on board burst into flames when its landing gear collapsed upon touchdown.

Three people suffered minor injuries in the accident, which occurred around 6 p.m. local time Tuesday. The accident involved a McDonnell Douglas MD-80 aircraft operating as Red Air Flight 203 from the Dominican Republic, the Federal Aviation Administration said in an emailed statement.
