The latest test of Donald Trump’s sway over Republican voters will be on display Tuesday night in Georgia’s crucial primary race. So far, it’s not looking good for the former president.
David Perdue, the former US senator tapped by Trump to oust incumbent Governor Brian Kemp, trailed by more than 20 percentage points in polls. In the week before the elections, Perdue had a modest schedule of campaign events, while Kemp rushed around the state flanked by a who’s-who of Republicans unpopular with Trump, including former Vice President Mike Pence.
