Commodities aren’t just expensive these days, they’re also volatile, and in many cases supply is unpredictable. 

A trend that we’ve started seeing more of lately is industrial companies (like automakers) announce deals to secure their own supply of key commodities, rather than simply rely on the spot market to acquire them.
