JR East said the Yamanote Line that encompasses central Tokyo will resume service around 10:30 a.m. local time after a fire along the route forced the operator to halt service this morning.

A fire broke out between Shin-Okubo and Takadanobaba stations earlier, according to a statement from the railway. Broadcaster NHK reported the fire broke out at an apartment along the line and was extinguished around 10 a.m. with no injuries, citing the local fire department and police.
