The Ricketts family met with Chelsea Football Club fan groups in London Wednesday as it sought to dampen allegations of Islamophobia as well as convince supporters it would be a suitable owner of the iconic sports team.
The family, one of several bidders battling for control of the West London club, has become the subject of a #notoricketts campaign on social media after reports of leaked emails from patriarch Joe Ricketts that contained anti-Muslim comments. Chelsea has several high-profile players who are Muslim, including N’Golo Kante and Hakim Ziyech.
