The Portuguese government plans to reduce the fuel tax from Friday as it tries to contain rising energy costs.
The government will reduce the fuel tax by the same amount as the potential increase in value-added tax revenue, Prime Minister Antonio Costa told reporters in Lisbon on Tuesday evening. “All scenarios indicate, unfortunately, that the price of diesel and gasoline will continue increasing,” Costa said.
