Winter will take another swipe at New York and the U.S. Northeast on Friday, ending a spell of springlike warmth.

Temperatures could reach 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius) in Manhattan Wednesday and 65 degrees in Boston, before plummeting at the end of the week as snow starts to fall, said Rob Carolan, owner of Hometown Forecast Services Inc. New York’s Central Park could get as much as 3 inches (8 centimeters) starting around 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday while Boston could see 10 inches with snow coming early Friday.
