Romania in Talks with U.S., France on Potential NATO Boost

Romania is in talks with France and the U.S. to establish how to increase the number of troops it hosts under the NATO framework amid rising tensions between Ukraine and Russia, President Klaus Iohannis said.

The Balkan state, which shares a more than 370-mile border with Ukraine, is ready to allow the military alliance to station more troops on its territory to secure its own protection and that of the region, Iohannis said on Wednesday. Romania also approved a plan to host Ukrainian refugees in case of a potential Russian invasion of Ukraine, he said.
