New York City Mayor Eric Adams said the city is investigating the Bronx apartment building where a fire Sunday killed 17 people, including nine children, in the city’s deadliest fire in three decades.

Adams said there is no initial reason to believe the 19-story building didn’t comply with city fire codes but that he was waiting for a thorough investigation by fire marshals.
