Tornadoes ripped across several U.S. states late Friday, killing more than 70 people in Kentucky, at least two at a nursing home in Arkansas and an undetermined number at an Amazon.com warehouse that was partially flattened in Illinois.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency and activated the National Guard in the aftermath of storms that killed people in at least five states. President Joe Biden approved an emergency declaration for Kentucky, mobilizing federal assistance efforts for 15 counties.
