China Coal Hub Suspends Mines After Floods During Energy Crisis

China’s top coal-producing province suspended output at 27 mines because of heavy rain and flooding, adding more pressure to an energy crisis gripping the nation.

Several parts of Shanxi province received more than 10 centimeters (4 inches) of rain as of 8 a.m. Monday, state-owned CCTV reported. At least three rivers have overflowed and 27 reservoirs have exceeded flood levels.
