General Motors Co.’s chief executive officer signaled the automaker will continue its relationship with the battery supplier at the center of its $1.8 billion vehicle recall while stressing it has “multiple pathways” to secure a leading position in the transition to electric vehicles.
GM and LG Energy Solution, which makes the battery cells and packs that power the electric Chevrolet Bolt, are still investigating the cause of manufacturing defects that resulted in at least 10 Bolts catching fire and pushed the company to recall more than 100,000 vehicles.
