The handful of Republican senators working on a bipartisan infrastructure deal said Tuesday they’re optimistic they can drum up expanded support for their plan within their party even as the top Senate Democrat began making moves to advance President Joe Biden’s agenda without the GOP if necessary.

“I’m very optimistic we’ll get at least 10 Republicans to support the plan,” Senator Mitt Romney told reporters following a lunchtime presentation on the $579 billion draft plan to fellow Senate Republicans.
