Apple, Eli Lilly and Chevron among companies adding women
Women held 22 more seats on the boards of companies in the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index in January, compared with the previous month, the biggest increase in almost two years.
The gains for women in the boardroom prompted the 2020 Women on Boards organization to change its name last month to the 5050 Women on Boards -- and seek parity in the boardroom. The average number of women directors was unchanged at 3.2, out of an average board size of 11.2. The percentage of female directorships rose to 28.8% from 28.5%.
