Vice President-elect Kamala Harris is a first in a number of ways: the first woman, the first Black person and the first Indian-American to serve in that role.
In her victory speech Saturday night in Wilmington, Delaware, she recognized that President-elect Joe Biden had made history by picking her as his running mate. “He had the audacity to break one of the most substantial barriers that exists in our country and select a woman as his vice president,” Harris said.
