The Atlantic’s second storm of 2020 made landfall just east of Charleston, South Carolina, on Wednesday, and then quickly weakened to a tropical depression.

Tropical Storm Bertha was downgraded when its top winds fell to 35 miles (56 kilometers) per hour, down from 50 mph earlier. The storm was about 65 miles northwest of Charleston at 2 p.m. New York time, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.
