The Green Deal program to slash fossil-fuel pollution in the European Union will be part of the cure for the economic slump coming from the coronavirus pandemic.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel on Wednesday stood firmly behind the far-reaching package of environmental measures to make slash emissions to zero by 2050. It was launched just before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic that is pushing the region into a recession, threatening investment.
