A hedge fund analyst sent to jail for stealing confidential trading strategies from a London firm was “relieved” to be deported back to China after spending four-and-a-half years behind bars, his lawyer said.
Ke Xu was convicted in 2015 of downloading algorithms from London-based G-Research, part of a group of companies run by hedge fund executive Peter de Putron. Xu, who was born in China, served three sentences in the U.K. after G-Research pursued him for failing to return the code. He had been seeking a return home since at least 2017.
