A New York Republican’s Sales Pitch: He Didn’t Vote for Trump

The New York race between two-term Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo and his Republican challenger, Dutchess County executive Marc Molinaro, boils down to inescapable arithmetic.

Democrats outnumber Republicans by more than 2-to-1 in the fourth most-populous state, and the last time the GOP won the governor’s mansion was more than 15 years ago. Cuomo, 60, has raised more than $30 million in donations, while Molinaro got less than $2 million. With less than a month until the election, Cuomo still has $9.2 million in the bank while Molinaro has just $211,000.
