German Chancellor Angela Merkel said plans to present joint European initiatives with French President Emmanuel Macron are on track and she’ll visit Paris shortly after her inauguration.

Merkel, who’s due to be sworn in for a fourth term on Wednesday, said that while complex projects such as a European banking union require extensive talks, finding a consensus with France on areas including finance, defense and migration is a key task of her next government.
