Australia is planning a recall of all defective airbags made by Takata Corp., trying to avoid more casualties by the Japanese manufacturer’s products that are blamed for at least 20 deaths globally.

The compulsory recall affects about two in seven vehicles in the country, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said Wednesday on its website. Carmakers will have to complete the replacement by the end of 2020, ACCC said. The call back applies to all vehicles already subject to existing voluntary recalls and also impacts 1.3 million additional automobiles that haven’t been previously recalled.
