Fiat Chrysler Slump in U.S. Continues

Sales are down for 17 straight months, but new models may reverse trend

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV’s U.S. sales fell for a 17th straight month in January, but there’s a silver lining to the slump. The Italian-American automaker has been curbing discounted shipments to rental-car companies and other fleet buyers, with deliveries to those customers plunging 50 percent last month. A new Jeep Wrangler sport utility vehicle and Ram 1500 pickup may reverse the trend and boost sales later this year.
