4 trillion yuan of bonds must be repaid this year by Chinese companies

Chinese companies must repay 4 trillion yuan ($614 billion) of bonds coming due this year and investors may also exercise options to sell an additional 910 billion yuan of securities back to issuers, adding to financial pressures after interest rates rose. The size of debt repayments is key in assessing credit risks this year, and there is a high probability investors who have options to sell back property developer as well as local government financing vehicle bonds will do so, according to Huachuang Securities Co.
