Amazon Wastes No Time in Becoming Force in Digital Music

Amazon now ranks third behind Spotify, Apple Inc. generates a lot of headlines for the way it has reshaped traditional retailing and the grocery aisle, but less well known is how quickly the online retailer has become a force in digital music. In just over a year since it started offering web-streaming songs for a monthly fee, Amazon has quietly become the world’s third-largest digital music service by subscribers behind Spotify and Apple Music, according to Midia Research.
