Buying Into BOE Rhetoric

Economists predict a rate increase in November followed by more than a year of no change

Bank of England officials have convinced economists that a U.K. rate hike is imminent. More than three-quarters now expect the BOE to raise rates at its November meeting, according to a Bloomberg survey, up from about one-in-five last month. Still, they predict that could be the bank’s last move for some time, with the next increase not seen until the first quarter of 2019.
