Diamond Producers’ Shares Are Having a Rough 12 Months

Firms are underperforming the broader mining industry

The resilience of rough gems hasn’t flowed through to diamond stocks. Hit by mine setbacks, political fights and lower prices for certain types of stones, producers including Firestone Diamonds Plc and Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. have taken a beating over the past 12 months. Meanwhile, the broader FTSE 350 Mining Index has shined with a 28 percent return over the same period.
