Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero was injured in a road accident in the Netherlands Thursday, the club said in a statement.

The Argentinian soccer star will return to Manchester Friday morning to be checked ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with championship rival Chelsea, the club added.

The 29-year-old was in a taxi traveling to the airport following a concert by Colombian singer Maluma in Amsterdam, ESPN in Argentina reported earlier. The player is likely to be out of action for two months after fracturing a rib, according to the report.

Aguero is joint top scorer in the English Premier League this season with six goals. His international team Argentina have crucial World Cup 2018 qualifying matches against Peru and Ecuador in October.
