Singapore's Top Stocks Take a Back Seat on ESG Disclosure

Investors call for better transparency, survey result shows

Singapore’s best performing stocks sit at the bottom when it comes to one measure -- environmental, social and governance disclosure. Apart from real estate developer City Developments Ltd., the top five stocks on the Straits Times Index rank in the bottom half of the gauge’s 30 companies in terms of ESG disclosure, according to Bloomberg data. Local companies might have to find a way to improve on that front, as a survey by Natixis Global Asset Management points out eight out of 10 investors in Singapore are “more likely” to view ESG factors as important to investment decision-making process.
