It Pays to Be an Expatriate in Switzerland

Foreigners in the country are paid almost double the global average

Expatriates moving to Switzerland -- home to some of the biggest private banks, commodity traders and pharmaceuticals companies -- earn an average salary of $193,006. That’s the highest in the world, a study published Wednesday by HSBC Holdings Plc shows. Still, Switzerland dropped out of the top 10 in HSBC’s overall expat country rankings because of low ratings in categories such as ease of integrating with local people, forming friendships and social life.
