Korean Exports at 6-Year High Signal Strong Global Trade: Chart

South Korean exports continued the strong growth they’ve shown all year, signaling that global trade continues to rebound. The value of exports grew 31 percent in the first 20 days of this month, with shipments to the EU up more than 40 percent, those to the U.S. climbing 36 percent and rising 24 percent to China. Part of the boom is due to more working days this year than last, according to Nomura, who forecast exports to grow almost 26 percent this month. Korea’s trade data is released earlier than in most other nations, so it’s an early indicator of what is happening in global trade.
