Euro-Area Consumer Confidence Rises to Highest Since 2001: Chart

Consumer confidence in the euro zone unexpectedly improved in September, climbing to a level not seen since early 2001. The sentiment gauge gained to minus 1.2 from minus 1.5 -- economists in a Bloomberg survey forecast it would stay unchanged.
