U.K. Ministers Quaffed English Wine as Nation Debated BrexitBy
Cheers! British ministers drank English wine at nearly half of their official dinners last year.
Statistics released by the U.K. Foreign Office in London Wednesday show government spending totaled 45,042 pounds ($45,000) on boozy events, although overall drinking fell by 12 percent in 2016-17 due to fewer government events, especially during the period of the European Union referendum where the country voted to leave the bloc.
English wines accounted for 49 percent of purchases.
