Germany's DAX Trails Global Equities on Carmaker Concern: Chart

It’s not a great time for a European benchmark populated with exporters and auto stocks. The DAX Index is trailing global equities for the first year since 2011 as a strengthening euro casts a cloud on overseas profits and allegations of collusion over emissions-cheating technology hurt shares of carmakers. The German measure has fallen in six of the past seven sessions, paring its annual gain to less than half the advance in the MSCI All-Country World Index.
