When It Comes to Tipping, U.S. Women Are More Consistent
When it comes to gratuities, women are consistently better than men. Females “always or most of the time” tip service workers—food servers, coffee-shop baristas, hair stylists and hotel housekeepers—at a greater frequency than men do, according to a survey of 1,002 adults by CreditCards.com. Only in one category, restaurant tipping, are men are more generous. Fifty-six percent of men tip 16 percent to 25 percent of the bill, while just 47 percent of women leave that much.
